Social Security enrollment

You can call Social Security and sign up on the phone OR you can do it yourself online. Instructions for both are listed here.
Signing up for Social Security involves a few key steps. Here’s what you need to do:

- Visit the Official Website
Go to the Social Security Administration (SSA) website:
https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/
- Click on “Create an Account”
You’ll be redirected to a secure sign-up page.
- Verify Your Identity
You will need:
✅ A valid email address
✅ Social Security Number (SSN)
✅ A U.S. mailing address
✅ A valid form of ID (e.g., driver’s license or state-issued ID)
- Choose a Sign-In Method
You can sign up using:
- gov(recommended for extra security)
- me(if you prefer this method)
- Provide Personal Information
Enter your name, SSN, date of birth, and other requested details.
- Set Up Security Questions & Password
Create a strong password and set up security questions for account recovery.
- Confirm Your Email & Phone Number
You’ll receive a verification code via email or text. Enter it to confirm.
- Log in & Access Your Account
R you can call the Social Security Administration (SSA) at 1-800-772-1213 to sign up for Social Security benefits. Their hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM (local time).
